Our very own Executive Director & Founder, Sr. Diana Dolce, S.S.J., is an honoree for the Rochester Women’s Network’s 2018 “W” Award.

As an inspirational woman in Rochester, Sr. Diana has changed the lives of many women who are current Hope Hall students, alumni, parents, and supporters.

Today, Thursday, April 12, 2018 is the official launch of the United Way Spring 2018 Campaign! This year The United Way of Greater Rochester is celebrating their 100th Anniversary. They have been “giving back & looking forward since 1918”! Help Hope Hall look forward to continuing to change the lives of our students by giving back and donating during this campaign season.

With support, everyone can succeed. Two-thirds of our funding comes from individuals like you who believe that all students deserve respect, support, and enough time to become successful learners.

We are very excited to announce that Macy’s Greece Ridge has selected Hope Hall School’s Linda’s Cupboard as the beneficiary of their March 2018 “Bag Hunger Now Campaign”. Macy’s Greece Ridge staff will be collecting monetary and food donations specifically for Linda’s Cupboard which helps feed Hope Hall families in need. You can help contribute to their “Bag Hunger Now Campaign” by rounding up your purchase to the nearest dollar (or more!) at Macy’s, The Mall at Greece Ridge location. The last day to make a contribution through your Macy’s purchase at the Greece Ridge store location will be Saturday, March 31, 2018. Hope Hall would like to extend our deep gratitude to the staff and administration at Macy’s Greece Ridge for choosing Linda’s Cupboard – your support and the support of your customers will make a huge impact on the lives of our Hope Hall families living in poverty.

Our ROC the Day results are in! Hope Hall School raised $1,999 in gross profit with 21 ROC Star donors! All of the funds were raised through United Way of Greater Rochester’s website ROCtheDay.org where donors could give any monetary amount to participating local non-profit organizations making a difference in our community. In total, United Way of Greater Rochester received $768,569 in donations and 7,393 donors. Wow!

Thank you so much to all of our ROC Stars who donated to Hope Hall School through ROCtheDay.org as well as through Facebook and PayPal on National #GivingTuesday (Tuesday, November 28, 2017). We will receive the results of our Facebook donations within 60 days. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation matched all gifts given through Facebook to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations until their $2 million worth of funds ran out. All fees associated with donating through Facebook were waived on #GivingTuesday.

Fourth grade Hope Hall student, Layne Harned, won the Gates Fire District’s Fire Escape Plan Contest. Students were given the task of drawing a fire escape plan for their home. The winner with the best home fire escape plan won a ride in a Gates Fire Truck to school. Layne Harned was Hope Hall School’s Contest Winner! Thank you to Mr. Joseph Manuse, Gates Fire Prevention Officer, and his team for offering fun ways to teach our students fire safety!

On Friday, November 3, 2017, the Gates Firefighters IAFF Local 3792 came to Hope Hall School to donate brand new winter coats to 48 of our elementary students in need. Thank you to the Gates Firefighters in partnership with Operation Warm for personally fitting each child with a new coat and helping them write their name on the interior tag which reads, “Made Just for You.” With monetary support from the Gates community, the firefighters are able to give the gift of warmth to these children right before the winter holidays.

Not only was today our first day of school for the 2017/18 school year, but it was also the day of our Annual I Can’t Ceremony and the unveiling of our new Hope Hall Blackhawks Soccer Scoreboard.

Every year on the first day of school, the Hope Hall Community including faculty, staff, and students, writes down a perception of something they believe they can’t do on a piece of paper. We, then, burry each piece of paper somewhere on school grounds to release any negative thoughts we have about ourselves to start the new year with a fresh, positive attitude.

The new Blackhawks Soccer Scoreboard was designed and created by students under the leadership of Mr. Ture, our Elementary Art Teacher. Every day for several weeks, students would take time out of their day during the school year and summer program to help put together a new, much needed scoreboard for our home soccer games.

Here’s to a positive, vibrant new school year!

Please note that Hope Hall School will host our Back to School Open House for parents and students on Thursday, August 31 for three sessions: 9-10:30am, 1-2:30pm, and 6:30-8pm. Parents and students will have the opportunity to meet with their teachers, buy school uniforms and other Hope Hall items. School uniform orders can be picked up and paid for a half hour before each session begins.

Hope Hall will be closed from Friday, September 1 through Monday, September 4 for Labor Day. The first day of school for students and teachers is Wednesday, September 6. We look forward to seeing all of our new and returning students!
